About the Role:

The Mental Health Technician Nights plays a critical role in supporting the care and safety of patients during overnight hours in mental health facilities. This position involves closely monitoring patients, assisting with therapeutic activities, and ensuring a secure and supportive environment throughout the night. The technician collaborates with clinical staff to observe patient behavior, report changes, and intervene when necessary to de-escalate situations. Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience or training in a mental health or healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts consistently and reliably.
  • Strong observational and communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of safety and emergency response procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Mental Health Technician or related credential.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health crises or behavioral challenges.
  • Training in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, or first aid/CPR.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Post-secondary education in psychology, social work, or a related field.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and observe patients continuously to ensure their safety and well-being during night shifts.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities and therapeutic exercises as directed by clinical staff.
  • Document patient behavior, incidents, and any changes in condition accurately and promptly.
  • Respond to emergencies and behavioral crises by implementing de-escalation techniques and following established protocols.
  • Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to support individualized patient care plans.
