Production Assistant

Job Description: 

Tierra Farm is a Certified Organic manufacturer and distributor of nuts and dried fruits, located 20 miles south of Albany, New York.  Our customers consist mainly of cooperatives and independently owned grocery stores that value working with an employee-owned, environmentally conscious company that manufactures its own products. We also sell our products directly to our customers at our retail store in Valatie and via our website.

Currently Tierra Farm is looking for a Production Associate who will be involved in all aspects of our production, such as roasting and packing. He/she needs to be a hardworking and motivated individual who meets the following lists of criteria. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Load bulk products into smaller packages at required production frequency levels.
• Inspect and reject products that do not meet specifications.
• Accurately label product and finished cases.
• Roast nuts and seeds according to recipes.
• Mix nuts, seeds and/or dried fruits according to recipes.
• Maintain areas in a clean and sanitary manner at all times.
• Inspect equipment for sanitary conditions.
• Inspect product for quality and any signs of foreign material contamination.
• Contribute to team effort by performing other duties as assigned and needed.

Primary Requirements:

• Must be able to legally work in the United States
• Must be min. 18 years of age
• Hold min. of High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work as a team member as well as independently
• Must have reliable transportation to/from work
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday: flex ‘4-days/week’ work schedule
• Must be able to work in a high-speed environment
• Must be able to work mandatory overtime if necessary, including weekends
• Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

Essential Functions:

• Must be able to stand for 10+ hours per day
• Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat as needed for responsibilities and other miscellaneous duties
• Must be able to lift 30-60 pounds
• Must have good hand eye coordination
• Must be able to understand unit of measure and read a scale
• Must be able to follow recipes and instructions

Preferred Experience:

• 1-2 year related work experience, including works in a commercial kitchen setting, preferred.

• Starting at $25/hour
