Origin Mining Company (“OMC”) is a distinguished copper mining company that owns the open-pit Mineral Park copper and molybdenum mine in Kingman, Arizona. Our mission is to extract copper and molybdenum resources in a sustainable manner while making a positive impact on the local economy by creating high-quality employment. OMC is dedicated to operating with integrity and transparency. We are currently operating a  hydromet and concentrator operation at the Mineral Park Mine and meet the growing global demand for copper.

Position Overview:
This position is responsible for the overall management of the Mineral Park Laboratory, including employees and scheduling. This position has the overall responsibility to product accurate and timely quantitative metallurgical data and reports.


Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring all equipment is operated following documented methods and/or procedures.
  • Effectively use all analytical laboratory equipment and technology to produce detailed metallurgical data.
  • Generate accurate and timely analytical reports. 
  • Establish and manage an effective Laboratory QA/QC program.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate laboratory projects.
  • Prepare proposals and technical reports summarizing the metallurgical test data.
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring metallurgical test quality.
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with geology, mining, and processing teams to define and meet sample processing requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in interpreting results from wet chemistry and instrumental chemical analyses.
  • Experience in analytical method development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High motivation, the ability to think independently, and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to following correct procedures and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize time-critical issues.
  • An eye towards continuous improvement.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Attention to detail and laboratory cleanliness.
  • A working knowledge of analytical and metallurgical laboratory techniques.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office or LIMS equivalent.
  • Previous management experience supervising a team of employees.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Mineral Processing.
  • Minimum of 5 years in an analytical metallurgical laboratory.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience in an analytical or metallurgical laboratory.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • MSHA training certification
     
Physical Demands: 
To be eligible for this position, an individual must possess the following requirements to perform the essential job functions:
  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather.
  • Able to operate a telephone and mine phone/radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating information.
  • Able to hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds periodically.
