Position Overview:
The Lab Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the laboratory, ensuring accurate, timely metallurgical and analytical results to support site operations. This role oversees lab personnel, workflows, and scheduling while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. The Superintendent plays a key role in developing and improving laboratory procedures, managing inventory, and ensuring equipment and systems are used effectively. Working closely with technical teams, this position supports data analysis and reporting across copper-moly and precious metals operations. The role also focuses on mentoring staff and driving continuous improvement within the lab environment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, including staffing, scheduling, and workflow coordination
  • Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory procedures and QA/QC protocols
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of assay and metallurgical test results through regular quality checks
  • Supervise, train, and mentor assay technicians and lab staff
  • Manage laboratory inventory, supplies, and equipment maintenance
  • Utilize and maintain LIMS (AssayNet) for data tracking and reporting
  • Support data analysis and interpretation across a range of analytical methods
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and best practices

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5–10 years of experience in an analytical or metallurgical laboratory
  • 2–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with ICP, atomic absorption, particle size analysis, and sample preparation (crushing, pulverizing)
  • Proficiency in laboratory data analysis and reporting systems, including LIMS
  • Experience working with base and precious metals (e.g., copper-moly, gold)
  • Solid understanding of laboratory QA/QC practices and procedure development
  • Strong organizational, communication, and team leadership skills
  • Commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Physical Demands: 
To be eligible for this position, an individual must possess the following requirements to perform the essential job functions:
  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather.
  • Able to operate a telephone and mine phone/radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating information.
  • Able to hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds periodically
