Origin Mining is looking for a metallurgical technician to join their processing team.  The metallurgical technician will work under the guidance of engineers to complete metallurgical lab testing, assist with process surveying and reporting.  The individual will work closely with the metallurgy and operations groups to assist in the investigation of process upsets and improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the collection of production samples in an industrial environment
  • Sample preparation for testing and chemical analysis
  • Size by size wet and dry screen analysis
  • Bench scale flotation testing
  • Recording and inputting of data
Skills & Requirements:
  • Understanding of comminution, flotation and dewatering processes, particularly related to copper and molybdenum extraction
  • Previous experience working with lab equipment, including sample preparation and analysis techniques
  • Understanding of sampling theory and techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge in math, chemistry, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Awareness of occupational hazards and commitment to safe work practices
  • Valid driver's license required
  • sample preparation and analysis techniques: 1 year preferred
Criteria/Conditions:
  • This is a Safety sensitive role.
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, see, and work in confined spaces.
  • Occasionally may be asked required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
  • Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.
