We are looking for Employees for our Kingston, Halifax, and Plympton Locations!

7AM to the start of school and 2PM-6PM.

As a Senior Group Leader, you’re more than a staff member—you will be able to take on more responsibilities and learn a bit more about how our programs are run. Every day brings something new, from epic games and crazy challenges to creative activities, laughter, friendships, and those little moments that kids remember forever.

Qualifications

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Understand and ensure EEC regulations as well as Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care policy, Child Guidance Policy, Health Care Policy) are maintained at all times.
  • Assist with implementing the program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA’S policies.
  • Assist with daily activities, including but not limited to; Y Chat, Asset Curriculum, BOKS, Fun/Food Curriculum.
  • Maintain proper behavior of children at all times with strict adherence to both the YMCA Child Guidance Policy, and the Child Care Policy.
  • Assists with Fun/Food Curriculum, menu planning and guidelines meet HEPA standards
  • Understands and maintains QRIS standards
  • Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel and potential clients.
  • Act as a positive role model.
  • Maintain attendance records and all necessary reports
  • Attend both weekly site staff meetings and monthly asset/school age curriculum meetings.
  • Meet with School Age Site Coordinator as directed.
  • Establish and maintain working relationship with school or other site-specific personnel.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help ensure maximum enrollment is achieved.
  • Assist with the Annual Campaign and other fund-raising events.
  • Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures, such as purchase orders and employee expense.

 

FACILITY/HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe program space.
  • Communicate to appropriate staff facility issues which need to be addressed in a timely manner.

 

INTERDIVISIONAL AND COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Actively participate on assigned committees and with the Y’s Annual Campaign.
  • Promote Y programs through public appearances and presentations.
  • Attend at least 20 hours of childcare training annually.

Education, Experience & Physical Requirements

  • Minimum 20 years of age.
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 9 months of experience working with school-age children OR a high school diploma/equivalent with at least 1 year of experience working with school-age children.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification required. Training may be provided if needed.
  • Evidence of a physical examination within the past 12 months.
  • Negative Mantoux TB test and documentation of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella, as required.
  • Ability to create and maintain a culture of excellence while working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and assist with cleaning and program set-up as needed.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak publicly when needed.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, move throughout the program environment, and lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and 40 pounds frequently, including assisting with children when necessary.
  • Ability to understand and support the YMCA's three areas of focus: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to the needs of children and families participating in the program.
