Job Overview: Childcare Group Teacher is a vital role in the YMCA Before and After School Care team. They will be a part of an on-site team organizing and implementing program activities and developing skills for children in kindergarten to 5th grade.

Part-time, Morning and/or Afternoon

Locations: Kingston City Schools, New Paltz, Ellenville, Highland, and Marlboro School Districts

Responsibilities: 

  • Supervises a group of children.
  • Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
  • Complete all OCFS required trainings
  • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  • Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
  • All staff are required to participate in trainings to reduce the risk of child abuse to understand their abuse risk management responsibilities.

 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred
  • Associates in Child Development, Recreation or related field preferred
  • Previous experience working with children preferably in a childcare setting
  • Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: art, helping with homework, songs/music, skits, sports, and recreational games, etc.
  • 1 year experience working with children less than 13 years of age required 
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training required to be completed along with other trainings after hire
