Bookkeeper (Manufacturing Experience Preferred)

Position Summary

Symbiotic Services is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing manufacturing company. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing daily accounting transactions, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end close activities. Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred, particularly with inventory management, inventory reconciliation, or job costing.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where accuracy and timeliness are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of daily financial transactions.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Assist with payroll processing and payroll reconciliations, as needed.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory balances, investigate discrepancies, and assist with inventory adjustments.
  • Support inventory cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Assist with job costing, product costing, or work-in-process (WIP) accounting when applicable.
  • Prepare financial reports and provide supporting documentation for management.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
  • Assist external accountants and auditors by preparing requested documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other accounting projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent bookkeeping experience will also be considered.

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and general accounting practices.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Experience using accounting software or ERP systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous bookkeeping experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with inventory management, inventory reconciliation, or inventory valuation.
  • Knowledge of job costing, product costing, bill of materials (BOMs), or work-in-process (WIP) accounting is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations through financial reporting and inventory controls.
