Job Description

The Early Childhood Teacher III, under direction, supervises an assigned group of children. Provides support for educational, emotional, and physical needs of children under care or supervision. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Plans, prepares, and implements developmentally appropriate lessons based on curriculum and developmental guidelines 

  • Interacts, observes, encourages, and supervises children in the classroom, outdoors, and during field trips. 

  • Delegates classroom responsibilities 

  • Assists in developing policies and procedures. 

  • Determines individual needs of children in class. Prepares and maintains daily observational reports regarding significant individual and group behavior. Maintains daily attendance records, classroom records, and other documentation including portfolios of children’s work. 

  • Resolves conflicts or difficulties with children or parents. Provides conference times with parents periodically or as requested. Establishes and maintains good communication with families through weekly lesson plans, monthly newsletters, and parent/teacher conferences. 

  • Assists in developing training. Submits required documentation, such as lesson plans, daily reports and newsletters by due dates. 

  • Develops and implements programming assuring the appropriate cognitive, effect, and psychomotor development of children. 

  • Designs and implements of research projects.

Minimum Requirements 

Education –High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience and 36 hours of related college credit or equivalent education and/or experience.
Experience –Three years of related experience

Knowledge of – Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and curriculum planning. 

Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
