Lead a Program That Changes Lives

Methodist Home for Children (MHC), in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, operates the Eastern Area Juvenile Crisis & Assessment Center in Kinston, NC, and we are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organized Operations Manager to lead this important program.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proven leader who understands both the direct care and administrative aspects of youth services. We are looking for someone who can effectively supervise staff, manage daily operations, build community relationships, and ensure exceptional care for the youth we serve.

About the Program

The Eastern Area Juvenile Crisis & Assessment Center provides comprehensive residential assessments for court-referred youth ages 10–17. Youth remain at the Center for approximately 14–30 days while receiving extensive observation, testing, and assessment services from licensed psychologists and clinical professionals.

Many of the youth we serve have experienced trauma, neglect, mental health challenges, substance abuse issues, or other significant life stressors. The goal of the program is to identify each youth's strengths and needs and develop a plan of care that connects them with the most appropriate services in their home community.

What You'll Do

As the Operations Manager, you will provide overall leadership and administration of the Center, including:

  • Supervising daily program operations and ensuring quality service delivery
  • Providing leadership, coaching, and supervision to program staff
  • Managing the Center's budget and operational resources
  • Overseeing staffing, scheduling, and program performance
  • Building and maintaining relationships with families, service providers, community partners, and neighborhood stakeholders
  • Coordinating volunteers and community involvement
  • Ensuring compliance with agency policies, licensing requirements, and contractual obligations
  • Promoting a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for youth and staff

We're Looking for Leaders Who:

  • Have a strong background supervising child-care or direct care staff
  • Possess hands-on experience working with adolescents and their families
  • Can balance compassionate leadership with sound operational management
  • Demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Previous supervisory experience managing child-care workers or direct care staff
  • Direct care experience working with adolescents and their families

Preferred:

  • Degree in Human Services or a related field
  • Master's degree
  • Experience managing residential, juvenile justice, behavioral health, or youth-serving programs
