Position Purpose

The Production Supervisor directly supervises hourly production employees in an assigned manufacturing area to ensure approved quality products are produced and delivered on schedule, within specifications, and in alignment with cost, safety, and quality requirements.

Scope of Responsibilities and Duties

Ā 

  • Efficiently manage a team consisting of entry‑level, semi‑skilled, and skilled employees.
  • Direct the work group or department to ensure on‑time production and delivery of products.
  • Select, train, and develop employees to perform at and above standard efficiency.
  • Train and cross‑train employees on products, machinery, processes, and company policies.
  • Teach and enforce safe work practices and proper housekeeping procedures.
  • Ensure safety by proactively identifying concerns and resolving open incidents promptly.
  • Maintain production quality standards and ensure consistent adherence.
  • Foster high employee morale and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Control absenteeism, scrap, and waste within the department.
  • Maintain regular communication with office staff to exchange information.
  • Interact with senior management and ownership to support overall company success and growth.
  • Develop corrective action plans when performance goals are not met and ensure successful completion.
  • Actively participate in quality and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required by business needs.

Requirements and Competencies

Education

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • At least one year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Technical Competencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and manufacturing documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload, and make sound decisions.
