Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in software development, system architecture, technical design, or systems engineering.
  • 2 years of experience with cloud development or distributed computing environments.
  • Experience with scalability.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience with and knowledge about engineering artifacts, such as reliability monitoring and alerting, security and privacy practices and techniques, documentation, integration testing, production hygiene and support processes.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., Spanner) and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud's infrastructure, AI/ML offerings, and security/compliance features.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and creative problem-solving abilities.

The Security Command Center (SCC) team builds the leading native platform for protecting customers' workloads, data, and identity on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). With a combination of workload protection, risk quantification, and governance features, SCC makes GCP the safest place for customers to run their applications and store their data.

The SCC Control Plane systems provide the essential management and operational foundation for SCC. These systems manage detector orchestration and configuration, seamless customer onboarding, integration with first-party GCP services, and high-throughput billing and metering. They are critical for enabling customers to easily activate and configure their security posture while ensuring accurate usage tracking at Google scale.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions for SCC Control Plane systems. Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on service operations and quality.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates.
