Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, cleanliness, and overall operational readiness of school buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position helps ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, parishioners, and visitors while supporting the mission and values of Ste. Genevieve Du Bois Catholic School. The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of custodial, preventive maintenance, and facility repair tasks and works closely with school and parish leadership to address facility needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on school facilities, equipment, and grounds.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure building systems operate efficiently and safely.
- Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and functionality of classrooms, offices, common areas, restrooms, and outdoor spaces.
- Monitor and address maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with the setup, breakdown, and support of school, parish, and community events.
- Perform basic repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and other building systems as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and report hazards, equipment failures, or facility concerns promptly.
- Operate and maintain maintenance equipment, tools, and vehicles in a safe manner.
- Assist with seasonal responsibilities, including snow removal, ice treatment, landscaping, and grounds maintenance.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and recommend purchases as necessary.
- Work cooperatively with school administration, parish staff, contractors, and vendors to support facility operations.
- Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and the mission of Catholic education in all interactions.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities management, custodial services, or a related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repair practices.
- Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, tools, and machinery.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, climbing, and reaching.
- Commitment to providing excellent service and maintaining a safe school environment.

- Successful completion of all required background checks, diocesan safe environment training, and employment requirements.
