High School Math Interventionist Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled High School Math Interventionist to support students in Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. The ideal candidate will have strong high school math instructional experience, a passion for working with at-risk youth, and the ability to use data to drive targeted academic support.

This position will focus on helping students strengthen foundational math skills, prepare for State Assessments and End-of-Course exams, and close achievement gaps through small-group, push-in, and pull-out intervention models. The Math Interventionist will also assist with testing coordination and schoolwide data tracking to support instructional planning and student success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted math intervention support for high school students in Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry.
  • Work with at-risk students who need additional support to pass State Assessments and End-of-Course exams.
  • Analyze benchmark, diagnostic, progress monitoring, and EOC data to identify student needs and instructional gaps.
  • Use aggregated data to support schoolwide academic planning and intervention decisions.
  • Create small-group math lesson plans and intervention resources for teachers.
  • Provide direct student support through push-in and pull-out intervention models.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to align interventions with current math instruction and student needs.
  • Assist the Assistant Principal with testing preparation, organization, administration, and data review.
  • Develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets, student data trackers, and schoolwide progress monitoring tools.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust intervention strategies based on performance data.
  • Participate in data meetings, instructional planning meetings, and professional development as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of interventions, student progress, and assessment data.
  • Support a positive school culture focused on student achievement, accountability, and growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • High school teaching or intervention experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience teaching or supporting Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and students requiring academic intervention.
  • Knowledge of State Assessments, EOC expectations, and benchmark data analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating spreadsheets, trackers, filters, formulas, and data reports.
  • Ability to interpret student performance data and use it to plan targeted instruction.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and support staff.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Strong background in math intervention strategies.
  • Ability to create engaging, skill-based small-group lessons.
  • Experience with diagnostic assessments, benchmark testing, and progress monitoring.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple data systems.
  • Ability to motivate and build relationships with students who may be academically behind.
  • Flexible, solutions-oriented, and able to adapt instruction based on student needs.

Work Environment

This position operates in a high school setting and requires regular interaction with students, teachers, school leadership, and support staff. The role may include classroom support, small-group instruction, testing assistance, and data management responsibilities.
