POSITION SUMMARYÂ
Assist with the revenue cycle management of SERA’s Billing Department with a primary focus on the accurate posting of payments received.Â
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for daily posting of Lockbox, Electronic Remittances and mail payments balancing worksheet and delivering to Corporate Billing Manager for deposit recording.
- Daily preparation of deposit for check payments
- Responsible for daily posting of correspondence.
- Responsible for recognition of incorrectly processed claims and/or payments. Â Pass problem EOBs to Claim Research Specialist.
- Answer incoming calls from patients, front desk staff and clinical staff as needed assisting in what may be necessary to satisfactory resolution of the issue.Â
- Processing over the phone patient credit card payments.
- Post unapplied credits to patient account balances.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIESÂ
- Requires in depth understanding of patient collection rules and regulationsÂ
- Requires ability to maintain rules and regulations for refunds, both patient and insurance with the ability to apply knowledge to daily responsibilities. Â
- Ability to keep pace with a high volume of patients while performing multiple, sometimes complex tasks.
- Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, staff and other persons contacted in the course of the work.
- Proven records of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in work performed including the ability to enter data accurately in end –user computer applications (MS Office, electronic health/medical records and patient billing and other medical information systems)

EDUCATION | EXPERIENCEÂ
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent                                             RequiredÂ
Two years’ experience in a medical office with knowledge of medical reimbursement and coding. Required

Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operates a calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment as necessary. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office environment. Work involves frequent contact with staff members, physicians and the public. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Â
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Â
Occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
