Job DetailsJob Location: Knoxville, IA 50138Position Type: Full TimeJob Shift: Day (1st)Job Title:             Sandblaster Department:      Paint Reports to:         Paint Area Manager FLSA Status:       Non-Exempt   SUMMARY Operates sandblasting equipment to remove paint and scale from steel parts.  Operates forklift to sort, load, and unload parts in the sandblast booth.  May also be asked to assist in paint prep area.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operates large sandblast booth to remove paint and scale from steel parts. Properly wears and maintains fresh air supply hood while in sandblast booth. Maintains sandblast booth by loading abrasive medium and removing used abrasive medium. Operates fork truck as needed to sort, load, and unload parts in the sandblast booth. Cleans and prepares surfaces of articles to be painted. Removes imperfections in the pre-paint finish utilizing orbital and manual sanding equipment. Manages curing oven and identifies quality issues with the paint. Applies masking to parts and machines before final painting. Removes masking from parts when painting is done. Cleans wash bay, tanks, hoses, nozzles, drying chamber, paint fixtures, hooks, and other assorted equipment. Loads materials into work area and transports painted articles to and from curing oven.
