Job Description
1. Lead monthly fuel accounting close activities, ensuring accurate and timely recording of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
2. Prepare, review, and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal policies and GAAP.
3. Perform advanced account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and develop corrective actions to maintain integrity of financial data.
4. Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
5. Develop, maintain, and improve accounting processes, identifying automation or efficiency opportunities and implementing best practices.
6. Prepare and review financial reports and variance analyses, providing insights to management on trends, risks, and opportunities.
7. Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, finance, accounting, and other business partners to support accurate financial reporting and business decisions.
8. Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, supplying data, explanations, and analytical support as needed.
9. Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements, recommending improvements to strengthen the control environment.
10. Serve as a subject-matter expert for complex accounting matters, providing guidance to junior team members and supporting training where appropriate.
11. Participate in system upgrades, data validations, and process integrations, including testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
12. Prepare ad hoc analyses, reports, and projects to support leadership, operational initiatives, and business strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required
- Minimum 5+Â years experience in accounting or related area required
Specialized Knowledge
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
- Experience with ERP systems and fuel management systems
- Knowledge of federal and state fuel tax reporting
