Summary of Position:

This position is primarily responsible for building and testing engineering prototypes in order to ensure the product
specifications established by the Product Development Engineer are met.
 

Responsibilities:

• Builds engineering prototypes for field-testing according to the Product Development Engineer’s specifications.
• Creates Bill of Materials for both new products and test fixtures.
• Writes assembly and test procedures for fixtures and new products in a detailed and clear manner.
• Responsible for testing and recording pre-pilot and pilot run data to ensure test results support established product guidelines.
• Ships products, test equipment, engineering samples to either customers or Contract Manufacturers according to deadlines and notifies Engineer accordingly.
• Sources and buys electronic components to ensure supplies are received and ready for build.
• Researches key components for cost reduction and new development.
• Over sees the certification tests (i.e. FCC, CE, and Environmental) for new products. Works with Contract Test Labs by supplying the latest products, documentation packages and ensures all the test have been completed on time.
• Works closely with other employees or manufacturers globally. (ie. CDC team members/ GIP)
   

Qualifications:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills required.
• Associates degree or 10yrs related work experience
• Ability to work independently and as a team to accomplish tasks.
• Ability to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to sit for a majority of the workday with minimal walking, bending, and standing required.
• Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
• Manual dexterity required in operating small hand tools.
• Working knowledge of how to use Digital Voltage Meters, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers and Power Supplies.
   

Accountabilities:

• Will be held accountable for building, testing and writing procedures of the prototype and pre-pilot builds in order to assist the Product Development Engineer in having a successful release to production.

Relationships:

• Reports directly to the Director of Engineering.
• Reports indirectly to the Design Engineer and the Program Manager.
• Maintains an effective working relationship with other Technicians and Engineers within the organization.
• Maintains an effective working relationship with other departments and team members when participating in Continuous Improvement teams.
• Maintains an effective working relationship with product suppliers.
