Location: Hybrid - Kohler, WI

Opportunity

This is more than a job posting for the Kohler Co., one of the oldest and largest privately held companies in North America; this is an invitation to become an essential contributor to the Facilities Engineering Team in an environment that promotes a spirit of collaboration.

As a Staff Engineer – Electrical  this is your chance to have a tangible impact at the Kohler Co. Members of the Corporate Headquarters based Electrical Engineering team support the company’s transformation and growth by providing design, design guidance, project management, coordination and installation of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power systems, and building management systems (BMS) for new facilities, renovations, or expansion of existing facilities.  These functions are on a global scale and international travel to remote locations in developing countries could be required (domestic and international travel could be up to 15%). On-site presence is strongly preferred; however, a hybrid remote/on-site work model will be considered for the ideal candidate. On-site presence is expected per project and other administrative requirements.

Position Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and lead process improvement and risk mitigation projects, programs, and initiatives, communicating progress and outcomes effectively to senior executives. This role requires the ability to simplify complex information into clear, executive-friendly communications.
  • Assemble project packages and manage projects of varying complexity, including defining scope, securing stakeholder buy-in through strategic communication, providing value engineering opportunities, managing bidding, budget tracking, and construction management. Succinct communication with senior leadership on project status and challenges is essential.
  • Mentor junior team members, emphasizing the importance of effective communication skills alongside technical expertise.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and calculations for electrical system installations or modifications, supporting a broad spectrum of projects.
  • Develop conceptual plans, design packages, value-engineering assessments, detailed specifications, engineering drawings, and/or basis of design standards/owner project requirements, ensuring clear and effective communication with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate electrical system design with other engineering disciplines, estimating project costs including engineering hours, materials, and installation. This includes the ability to articulate complex interdisciplinary considerations in concise, strategic communications.
  • Coordinate the efforts of external consultants and contractors (both foreign and domestic) engaged in support of projects, ensuring clear, strategic, and effective communication of project goals and expectations.
  • Commission new electrical systems and troubleshoot existing systems, analyzing infrastructure for potential failure modes, and recommend remediation actions. Effectively communicate technical assessments and remediation strategies to inform decision-making.

Skills/Requirements
