Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Onsite 4 days per week – Kohler, WI

Opportunity

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide legal counsel on commercial matters to corporate functions and diverse international businesses primarily supporting Kohler’s Kitchen & Bath business including Luxury Brands, Wellness, and Health. Lead legal interactions with indirect procurement, which supports professional services, marketing and communications, capital equipment, and facility maintenance groups.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a wide range of domestic and international commercial agreements (including, but not limited to, supply and purchase agreements, service agreements, development agreements, sales and distribution agreements, and licensing agreements).
  • Protect company interests and advise management with respect to risks associated with negotiated agreements.
  • Work with Commercial Contracts team and key business contacts to align on commercial agreement language, risk allocation, and overall contracting strategy.
  • Provide training, guidance, and educational resources to business teams designed to build a foundational understanding of the law as it relates to commercial transactions, improved issue spotting and escalation, and promote consistent contracting practices in line with legal guidance.

Additional growth responsibilities may include:

  • As experience and business needs evolve, responsibilities may expand to include:
  • Advising on a broad range of commercial legal matters, including:
  • Distribution and channel strategy
  • Warranty, advertising, and marketing compliance
  • Antitrust and competition law
  • Real estate and facilities-related legal issues
  • Regulatory compliance and data privacy
  • Supporting litigation team in the management of commercial litigation, including coordinating with outside counsel, assisting with strategy and internal stakeholder communication.

Skills/Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Wisconsin, or able to gain Wisconsin Bar status
  • 2+ years of experience as a producing lawyer working on commercial or transactional matters either with a private firm or corporate legal department
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skill and attention to detail
  • Experience with contract management systems a plus
