Responsibilities

Midwest Center for Youth and Families (a subsidiary of UHS) has been in operation since 1997, serving youth across the country that are in need of psychiatric treatment for variety of mental health issues. The Midwest Center is a respected healthcare provider, fully accredited, 74-bed private, residential treatment facility with locations in Valparaiso and Kouts, IN. We are dedicated to care of the hearts and minds of our patients with compassion and superior quality behavioral healthcare services through our full-immersion Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program for children and adolescents ages 10 - 18 who struggle with emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges. The Residential Therapist carries out the responsibilities of obtaining social history information to familiarize clinical staff and physicians with the patient and any past/present problems. Acts as liaison with the patient’s family or support system and referral sources. Provides direct psychotherapy to patients in individual, family, and group settings. Assists with utilization review with third party payor sources.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Education: Master's degree in social work, psychology or counseling required.
  • Experience: Prefer one year of experience working in a psychiatric setting with patients aged 10-18yrs. Must have working knowledge of DBT.
  • Licensure/Certifications: LCSW, LMFT, LMFT-A, LMHC, LMHC-A, or LSW license in the state of Indiana required or license eligible. Must complete DBT skills training certification course within 6 months of hire.
