Job Overview
The Slurry Operator is responsible for preparing a batch by gathering and weighing the necessary ingredients and then sending the batch through the blender for the correct time, at the correct temperature. Slurry is a basic mixture of wet and dry ingredients.
Job Responsibilities
• Coordinate with Production Supervisor(s) on production order add-ons, product change over’s and tie outs.Â
• Read blend sheets and follow instructions that may be given on the blend sheets.
• Ability to properly use handheld scanners to scan ingredients to in process or blend sheet.Â
• Record correct batch numbers on blend sheet if ingredients are not scanned to the blend sheet.Â
• Follow production order for groups. Â
• Ability to use handheld scanner to look up the oldest ingredient batches.Â
• Ability to use the inventory report (LX02) to look up oldest ingredient batches or handheld.Â
• Label any unused ingredient with its description and or batch (if needed) and return to proper storage (cooler or dry ingredient) when done with the ingredient.Â
• Collect samples for Lab/Quality Assurance analysis. Â
• The sample includes: fat sample, blender moisture sample and any additional samples that may be required by the lab.Â
• Keep work area neat and dispose of empty powder bags, cardboard, plastic, and any work debris. Â
• Clean-up powder spills by blenders and powder room. Â
• Verify group sheets for accuracy of materials scanned to group to assure an accurate inventory. Â
• Assure that all necessary ingredients are ready and on hand for use.Â
• Assist with the training of new employees when requested by Supervisor.Â
• Complete all paperwork completely and correctly.

• Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Required Education and Experience
• Ability to operate handheld scanner, personal computer and computer screen control panels.Â
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.Â
• Ability to analyze and solve problems.Â
• Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and management.Â
• Good Mathematical skills.Â
• Good communication skills: verbal and written.Â
• Ability to use handheld scannersÂ
• Basic computer & SAP skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to operate powder control systems.
- Ability to operate various Powdered Industrial Trucks.
