JOB SUMMARY: The Polisher is responsible for preparing and finishing exhaust components to meet S&S Cycle’s quality and appearance standards. This role performs polishing operations to achieve consistent, high-quality metal finishes. The Polisher follows production schedules, inspects parts for defects, and maintains equipment to ensure smooth workflow and superior final products within the exhaust manufacturing process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Thoroughly understand and adhere to the department goals, objectives, and strategy
Present and maintain positive morale amongst employees
Grinds, buffs and finishes parts and materials
Demonstrated use of hand tools and powered hand tools such as sanders, grinders, etc.
Use of manual fixtures / belters
Observe and inspect parts to ensure specifications are met
Responsible for performing all hand polishing/buffing operations on products using abrasive belts, buffs, compounds, and greases to attain the required cosmetic and blueprints specifications on the product.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1+ year(s) of experience in belting, polishing and buffing of various shaped steel, aluminum and stainless-steel parts
Experience with working on back stands and other belting machines
Clear understanding of different finishes and use of belts and buffs to produce various finishes
Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standards
Well organized and self-directed
Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is a plus.
Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Will be required to perform job duties in a manufacturing production environment
While performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and forklift traffic
The noise level is moderate, and some production areas may require hearing protection in accordance with OSHA requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms above shoulders, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
Must comply with safety and PPE standards, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toed shoes
