Job DetailsJob Location: LA GRANGE, IL 60525Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $21.00 - $25.50 HourlyPARK DISTRICT OF LA GRANGE JOB DESCRIPTION PARK MAINTENANCE II Job Title:                        Park Maintenance II   Department:                 Parks Supervision:                  Position is directly under the supervision of the Parks, Grounds and Planning Manager FLSA:                                    Non-Exempt SALARY:                              $21.00-25.50 DOQ Summary The Park Maintenance II is an experienced maintenance professional responsible for performing advanced maintenance, repair, and groundskeeping activities throughout Park District facilities and parks. This position works independently on a variety of skilled maintenance assignments and serves as a resource when requested. The Park Maintenance II supports daily park operations while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service. Qualifications / Education High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or technical training preferred. 3–5 years of experience in park maintenance, groundskeeping, facility repair, or a related field preferred. Experience operating landscape and other equipment. Working knowledge of irrigation, athletic fields, landscaping, and building maintenance. Special Requirements Valid Class "D" Illinois driver’s license. Must pass pre-employment physical and background check. Must possess a valid Illinois Pesticide Operator License at the time of hire. Preferred: Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI), Certified Pool Operator (CPO), ISA Certified Arborist.   Hours of Work This is a full-time position requiring a 40-hour workweek. Scheduled hours: Tuesday through Saturday May require occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call duty based on operational needs.   Essential Functions Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and improvement of parks, facilities, athletic fields, playgrounds, and other district assets. Operate, inspect, and maintain a variety of vehicles, equipment, tools, and machinery used in park and facility maintenance. Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, landscaping, irrigation, fertilization, pesticide application, and related tasks. Perform routine building and facility maintenance, repairs, and custodial duties as needed. Inspect parks, facilities, equipment, and amenities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and repair requirements. Complete preventative maintenance and assist in troubleshooting and repairing district equipment and infrastructure. Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of park amenities, signage, fencing, benches, playgrounds, athletic fields, and other recreational facilities. Assist with snow and ice removal operations and respond to weather-related emergencies. Complete work orders, inspections, maintenance records, and other required documentation. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while following all district safety policies and procedures. Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of district programs, events, and activities. Provide guidance and technical assistance to park maintenance I employees and seasonal staff as requested. Respond professionally and courteously to residents, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees. Attend required meetings, training sessions, and certifications to maintain job knowledge and required licenses. Perform other duties as assigned.
