The Master Data Specialist is responsible for maintaining and improving the integrity, accuracy, and structure of item master data across our supply chain systems.  This position supports both day-to-day data execution and long-term data quality initiatives that enable process automation, system integration, and analytics readiness.  Working closely with cross-functional teams, this role plays a key part in transforming how we manage our item records to support operational efficiency and future digital capabilities.   Essential Job Duties Item Master Management Create, validate, and maintain item master data within the ERP system. Ensure adherence to naming conventions, classification rules, and required fields. Partner with supply chain and product teams to ensure timely and accurate item setups. Perform audits to proactively identify and resolve data gaps, duplications, and inconsistencies. Data Standards & Documentation Support development and enforcement of item master SOPs, templates, and standard field definitions. Document known issues and definitions to ensure transparency and repeatability. Assist in implementing validation rules and change control procedures to ensure clean, usable data. Cross-Functional Coordination Collaborate with IT and upstream teams to improve data intake. Assist with onboarding and training on correct item setup procedures. Data Quality & Reporting Monitor key data quality metrics such as completeness, accuracy, and duplication. Use Excel or BI tools to analyze data trends and support root cause analysis of errors or inefficiencies. Contribute to initiatives that increase the automation or scalability of item setup processes. Future-Readiness Projects   Contribute to initiatives that increase the automation or scalability of item setup processes. Participate in system upgrade testing, data cleansing efforts, or pilot projects related to master data.   Other Duties Please note this job description does not contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee for this job. Analytical thinker with strong critical thinking skills and curiosity. Comfortable working independently and collaboratively. Clear communicator with a focus on consistency, accuracy, and accountability. Excellent attention to detail, with a process-oriented approach to data work. Advanced Excel or data analysis skills; comfortable working with large data sets. Aptitude for ERP systems, data tools and embracing emerging technologies.   Education and/or Experience Desired The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this role. 2+ years of experience working with product or item master data in an ERP system. Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited university, or additional related work experience. Supply Chain or related field preferred. ASCM (APICS) Certification a plus.   Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.   Work Environment This position works in a hybrid environment and must use software and tools to communicate with others while working remotely. The work is fast-paced, focused on continuous improvement and continuous learning while operating under high demand/volume. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers, etc.   Travel Routine travel is not expected.
