Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team in LaPlata, MD! Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to children and adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility
- Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately
- Facilitate community integration activities and encourage social participation
- Administer medications and follow health care protocols as directed
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Promote individual independence, dignity, and self-advocacy in all interactions
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, and Medication Technician certifications
- Compassionate, dependable, and committed to person-centered care
