Job Description:
The Operations Associate serves to support production by monitoring, assessing, and manually controlling with direct physical activity, the chemical and mechanical equipment and process systems in the field to assure the production processes are functioning properly and to continually improve the process and product to achieve excellence in our business.
Starting Pay = $43.18/hr
Specialized Skill or Technical Knowledge: The Operations Associate must be able to identify, understand the purpose for, and how to start, stop, operate, disable and lock out various types of process equipment such as columns, storage tanks, pumps, valves-control/manual, compressors, and the process flow lines. The OA must have basic process chemistry knowledge and understand the hazards associated with working with process equipment and chemicals.
Decision Making:
• Monitoring and sampling of the process is routine and follows a set of standard procedures.
• Manually adjust the process control variables and other equipment in the field. This work is routine requiring the use of several readily understood rules and procedures in which the operator may make minor decisions that could affect the efficiency and/or accuracy of the work.
• Preparing equipment for service - Tasks are semi-routine and diversified, requiring some judgment in the application of established rules and procedures but within limits of standard practices.
• Preparing process additives are routine and follow a set of standard procedures. • Verbal and written communications via shift log and shift relief of daily events are routine.
Supervision:
• Monitoring and sampling of the process requires general supervision in which the routine work is performed following standard practices and procedures. For non-standard conditions operator receives more detailed direction from supervision.
• Manually adjusting process control variables - This work is performed with general supervision with direction given from the Board Operator in which most of the tasks are covered by detailed verbal or written procedures.
• Preparing equipment for service - This work requires general supervision, and most routine work is performed alone from standard practices and procedures. Non-standard conditions may require peer to peer direction. Some work permitting requires supervision checks to ensure proper safety implementation.
• Preparing process additives and removal of byproducts - This work requires general supervision in which the routine work is performed following standard practices and procedures. For non-standard conditions operator receives more detailed written and or verbal direction.
Accuracy:
• Monitoring and sampling - Probable errors would be due to carelessness and errors would usually be detected by succeeding operations. These errors would usually be detected before results could become serious. The errors would normally be confined to operations within the unit and would not necessarily affect customer relations.
• Manually adjusting process control variables - Probable errors would be due to carelessness, and errors would most likely be detected by succeeding operations. These errors would usually be detected before results could become serious. The errors would normally be confined to operations within the units. These activities may result in losses of material, minor equipment items, and working time. The errors would normally be confined to operations within the unit and would not necessarily affect customer relations.
• Preparing equipment for service - Probable errors may result in safety or environmental non-compliance and serious injury and/or equipment damage.
• Preparing process additives and removal of byproducts - Probable errors would be due to carelessness, and errors would usually be detected by succeeding operations. These errors would usually be detected before results could become serious. The errors would normally be confined to operations within the unit and would not necessarily affect customer relations.
