Emulsion Operator
Overview
The Emulsion Operator will be responsible for the safe, productive manufacturing processes within our Emulsion department including, but not limited to, following all written work instruction and operating procedures related to the areas packaging and handling of explosive products; inspect manufactured products for accuracy; recognize hazards within the production area; operate equipment and ensure equipment is running properly; troubleshoot and problem solve with Supervisor/Area Lead on any technical issues as needed; operate and maintain manufacturing vehicles when needed; and any other duties as assigned by Area Lead, Supervisor and/or Department Manager.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct inspections and repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and auxiliary systems.
- Perform DOT and pre-trip inspections in accordance with FMSCR 392, 393, and 396.
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) services-daily, weekly, monthly, and annually.
- Diagnose drivability issues using computerized diagnostic tools.
- Complete work orders, log labor hours, and track parts usage in SQ7 vehicle maintenance software.
- Communicate inventory needs leads and supervisors.
- Execute welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
- Maintain and repair pumps and auxiliary systems.
- Understand and troubleshoot electrical and lighting systems.
- Fill out required documentation and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and maintain a positive attitude.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Minimum age of 18
- Must meet all state and federal explosive laws and qualify as an atf explosive processor
- 1+ years of manufacturing experience or
- 1+ years explosive or chemical manufacturing
- Mechanically inclined
- Availability to work various shifts and overtime on short noticeRev. 10.2024
Skills, Knowledge, and Requirements
- Basic Math skills (basic counting skills required)
- Ability to read and maintain proper documentation as required.
- Meet requirements of all state and federal explosive laws and qualify as an ATF explosive processor.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Availability to work various shifts as required by business demands.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Must be able to stand/walk up to 10 hours per day.
- Have high manual dexterity.
- Ability to work overtime when applicable.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to wear work uniforms and required PPE.
- Ability to get fitted and wear formal respirator, half face style, as needed.
- Ability to work on a ladder (i.e., heightened work surface)
- Must be forklift certified.
- May have to be certified to drive box truck and semi-tractor.
- Must be able to operate various types of machinery and set up of machines.
- Must understand the need to be cross trained and willing to do different tasks daily.
Work Environment
- Must be able to work in various conditions (hot/cold and wet floors)
- Must be able to work in loud work environment; hearing protection required in some areas (range of 50 – 90 decibels)
