Why This Role Matters

The Host/Cashier is the first point of contact for every guest and plays a key role in delivering the warm, welcoming experience Trapper's Sushi is known for. This role is responsible for greeting guests, managing the flow of the dining room, handling payments, and maintaining an organized and efficient front-of-house environment.


What You'll Do

  • Greet all guests with warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to create a memorable experience
  • Manage the waitlist, seating rotation, and table availability to ensure smooth service flow
  • Answer phones promptly and handle takeout orders with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Process payments, handle cash/card transactions, and follow all cash-handling procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, lobby, menus, and restrooms as assigned
  • Communicate clearly with servers, managers, and kitchen staff regarding seating, large parties, and special requests
  • Monitor lobby conditions and guest needs, including ADA access and accommodations
  • Support to-go order packaging and accuracy when volume requires
  • Follow all company safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards, including proper chemical handling and PPE use when cleaning
  • Demonstrate teamwork, integrity, and respect while upholding a positive and inclusive work environment

Requirements

What You Bring to the Table

  • Previous customer service or hospitality experience preferred but not required
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to engage with guests in a friendly, professional manner
  • Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail when entering orders, quoting wait times, or processing payments
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Must obtain a valid Food Handler's Permit/State Food Worker Card prior to the first day of work (per state law)

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Frequent walking, bending, and reaching
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. (menus, to-go bags, supplies)
  • Working in high-traffic areas with constant guest interaction
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions while managing front-door flow
