Main purpose of job

The primary purpose of the Facilities Technician I position is to support the maintenance, cleanliness, and general upkeep of the facility to ensure a safe, clean, and compliant manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for performing cleaning duties in controlled manufacturing areas as well as assisting with basic facilities maintenance tasks, inspections, and minor repairs under supervision.

 

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Viant Values and all safety, environmental, security, and quality requirements including QMS, EMS, FDA regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains facility cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming floors.
  • Cleans and sanitizes controlled manufacturing areas, laboratories, offices, restrooms, breakrooms, and common areas.
  • Gathers, removes, and properly disposes of trash and recycling.
  • Services, cleans, and stocks restroom supplies.
  • Cleans windows, glass partitions, mirrors, furniture, fixtures, walls, and equipment.
  • Mixes and uses approved cleaning solutions and chemicals according to specifications and safety requirements.
  • Follows proper procedures for use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Assists with basic facilities maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing filters, and minor repairs.
  • Performs routine inspections and reports safety or maintenance issues.
  • Assists maintenance team with preventive maintenance and basic work orders.
  • Helps maintain facility security including locking doors and monitoring hazards.
  • Works with maintenance staff and outside contractors as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Position Requirements

Knowledge / Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

 

Job Experience:

  • 0–2 years of experience in custodial, facilities, maintenance, or manufacturing support roles preferred.
  • Experience in a controlled or regulated manufacturing environment is a plus.

 

Skills / Competencies:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling and cleaning practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety and cleanliness.
  • Basic computer familiarity preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and controlled environment.
