About the Role:Â
Sierra Technologies is seeking Certified Pharmacy Technicians in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) contract. This position will be based at the CMOP facility in Ladson, South Carolina.Â
The Certified Pharmacy Technician will assist pharmacists in the preparation, packaging, and dispensing of medications while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with VA, CMOP, and federal standards. This position plays a vital role in supporting the timely and efficient delivery of prescription medications to Veterans nationwide.Â
Work Structure & ScheduleÂ
- Work Type: Full-Time Federal Contract (contingent upon award)Â
- Location: On-site – VA CMOP Facility, Ladson, South CarolinaÂ
- Schedule: 1st Shift: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM; 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM–12:00 AMÂ
- Contract Duration: Approximately 5 yearsÂ
Pharmaceutical Operations
- Assist licensed pharmacists in the preparation, packaging, and dispensing of prescription medications for veteran patients
- Accurately package and label prescription medications in accordance with CMOP protocols and federal requirements
- Maintain complete and accurate pharmaceutical records and documentation
- Monitor and manage medication inventory, including receiving, stocking, rotating, and reconciling pharmaceutical supplies
- Process prescription orders efficiently and accurately in compliance with CMOP standard operating procedures
- Ensure all dispensed medications are accompanied by correct and complete documentation
Technology & Equipment Operation
- Operate pharmacy automation systems including Autofill dispensing systems, Baker Cells, Kalish Cells, and A-frame dispensing equipment
- Monitor automated dispensing processes to verify accuracy and identify discrepancies
- Report equipment malfunctions or issues to supervisory staff promptly
- Utilize pharmacy information systems for prescription processing and documentation
Compliance & SafetyÂ
- Adhere to all CMOP Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and federal pharmacy regulations
- Handle, label, and dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with applicable safety regulations
- Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and protect veteran patient information at all times
- Follow all OSHA and facility safety protocols in the pharmacy work environment

EDUCATIONÂ
High School diploma or GED
Â
REQUIRED:
- Active pharmacy technician certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (ExCPT)
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.Â
- Basic computer and typing skills.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English per 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).Â
- Must meet all VA background and access requirements.
Â
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 150 pounds using carts or pallet jacks.Â
- Ability to stand for 8–10 hours and perform repetitive motions, including reaching and stooping.Â
- Visual acuity sufficient to read computer screens and operate scanning equipment.
Â
PREFERRED:
- Previous experience in mail-order, hospital, or VA/DoD pharmacy operations.Â
- Familiarity with pharmacy automation equipment and inventory systems.Â
- Experience working in a VA, federal, or government-contracted pharmacy environment.
