About Planning, Design & Construction

The Planning, Design & Construction team serves as a strategic partner across operational and capital initiatives, collaborating with healthcare stakeholders to manage risk, maintain compliance, and support long-term facility readiness.


This division develops structured workplans and operational strategies that translate healthcare business objectives into successful infrastructure and facilities outcomes while maintaining operational, regulatory, and financial alignment.


Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of operational and capital projects within a dedicated healthcare facility in Nashville, Tennessee. This role works onsite daily and partners closely with hospital leadership, facilities operations teams, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders to support infrastructure improvements, operational readiness, and healthcare construction initiatives.


This position assists in managing projects throughout the full project lifecycle, including planning, design, construction, activation, and transition to operations, while ensuring alignment with healthcare operational and regulatory standards.


Key Roles & Responsibilities


Client Relations

  • Establish positive and collaborative working relationships with colleagues, hospital stakeholders, consultants, and contractors
  • Demonstrate adaptability and responsiveness to support operational and project objectives
  • Support communication and coordination across project teams and facility operations


Leadership

  • Apply logic, technical knowledge, and sound judgement to project-related decisions
  • Demonstrate awareness of operational impacts within an active healthcare environment
  • Escalate concerns and support resolution of project or operational issues as needed


Communication & Presentation

  • Prepare meeting minutes, reports, schedules, dashboards, and project documentation clearly and efficiently
  • Communicate professionally with hospital leadership, consultants, contractors, and project teams
  • Maintain open communication between all project stakeholders and facility operations personnel


Critical Thinking

  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to operational and project-related challenges
  • Recognize team capabilities, resources, and priorities
  • Support decision-making with professionalism and accountability


Technical Fundamentals

  • Utilize computer applications for project cost tracking, scheduling, and documentation
  • Develop working knowledge of healthcare facility operations, building systems, and construction techniques
  • Develop understanding of architectural systems, infrastructure systems, and healthcare regulatory environments
  • Participate in ensuring field compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and operational standards
  • Develop working knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and healthcare regulatory requirements


Cost Management

  • Assist with gathering project information to define scope, schedule, and budget requirements
  • Track ongoing project costs against established budgets
  • Support analysis of budgets, schedules, and project impacts


Schedule Management

  • Maintain project schedules and activity tracking
  • Support project coordination and schedule communication with stakeholders
  • Assist with project closeout, startup, and operational transition activities


Core Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day coordination of healthcare facility projects and operational initiatives
  • Ensure safety protocols and healthcare facility regulations are followed throughout project execution
  • Assist with coordination between consultants, contractors, vendors, and facility stakeholders
  • Coordinate project activities in a manner that minimizes disruption to hospital operations and patient care
  • Troubleshoot and elevate project or operational concerns appropriately
  • Assist with maintaining organized project workflows from initiation through completion
  • Support collaboration between facilities operations, clinical stakeholders, contractors, and project teams
  • Participate in facility assessments, field observations, and operational readiness initiatives as needed


Essential Skills & Experience

  • 1–3 years of project coordination, construction, facilities, or healthcare infrastructure experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn
  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt within a dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within healthcare, hospital, or regulated facility environments preferred
  • Familiarity with healthcare infrastructure systems and operational coordination is a plus
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or life safety systems preferred

Work Location: Nashville, TN. Fully onsite at a dedicated healthcare facility.
