Chief Flight Nurse

Air Med has an immediate opening for a Chief Flight Nurse to join their team! 

Provide appropriate, efficient, and timely pre-hospital Advanced, Intermediate and Basic Life Support care and transportation of the sick and injured in accordance with local, state, national, and Acadian Ambulance standards of practice.

1. Understand and promote Acadian/Air Med's mission, vision, and goals.
2. Conduct business as a leader, role model, and clinical resource.
3. Participate in meetings with the Air Med Management group including disaster drills, staff meetings, and community/hospital meetings.
4. Serve as the initial contact in the chain of command for clinical issues of Registered Nurse Crew Members.
5. Identify areas of concern and communicates with Operations Manager, FLS, and Quality Improvement Supervisor as necessary.
6. Promote company health and wellness programs and initiatives.
7. Assist and work with Associate Quality Improvement Supervisors as needed.
8. Any other special project as assigned.

• Safety
  • Communicate with the Operations Manager/Supervisor and FLS to ensure timely identification of safety issues, reporting, and resolution.
  • Promote and uphold safety standards for self, flight line staff, and patients to include HSE standards.
  •  Consult with AMOC/Air Med management when flight line employees report fatigue.
• Blood

• Utilization forms and follow-up

• Obtaining Dr. Burnell’s signature once all paperwork is complete
• Oversee/troubleshoot remote monitoring of Blood Fridges
• Oversee newly implemented protocol for drawing and routing of Blood Samples to UBS after usage in the field.
• CAMTS
• Oversee and maintain the CAMTS spreadsheet consisting of over 100 categories to track over 90 employees, thus creating over 9000 data entry points that need to be updated quarterly.
• Provide Quarterly Training at every NEMSA in Air Med operational areas. A total of 8 locations, consisting of at least 4 days traveling weekly, totaling at least 32 days travel quarterly plus make-up days if needed quarterly, a total of 36 teaching days.
• Organize FP-C/CFRN, PHTLS, and NRP classes as they are needed.
• Assign, monitor, and verify multiple CBTs in LMS per CAMTS requirements quarterly.
• Conduct constant monitoring and notification of education requirements per CAMTS.
• Monitor and provide annual testing of PPD and N-95 mask fit test.
• Develop education based on Quality Metrics needs.
• Assist with RSI reviews and tracking.
• Participate in medical investigations, adverse events, SREs, and other utilization issues.
• Assist the Quality Improvement Supervisor with Quarterly Report Cards and Annual Reporting requirements.
• Assist with controlled substance auditing and tracking.
• Oversee operational safety committee.
• Provide education to employees who are on a growth plan or have been identified as having deficiencies.

• Initial skills eval and SIMS on new employees for CAMTS
• Research and Review new products/procedures while monitoring the costs associated with both.
• Track industry trends and standards associated with Air Transport

Qualifications

1. Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years of flight nursing experience.
2. Have and maintain advanced certification required by CAMTS (CFRN or CTRN).
3. Must have a good working knowledge of the Green Book protocols.
4. Computer proficiency preferred.
5. Paramedic license preferred
6. Graduation or participation in the ACES program is preferred.
7. No operational, safety, and/or clinical issues in the last 2 years.
