Group Leader – Advanced Manufacturing Planning

Project Planning & Administration Department 

 

 

Position Summary:

The Group Leader, Plant Planning provides first-level leadership and establishes the day-to-day goals and objectives for a team that is responsible for the coordination of future plant planning. This position participates in the planning and communicating of future model planning for facilities, equipment, processes, and staffing and related milestones within the department, and for handling communications with other departments and SBR. It is also the plant lead for planning and strategies for manufacturing related sustainability at SIA.

 

Outline of Duties:

  • Supervises and assist staff in daily, weekly, and annual duties and responsibilities while ensuring quality on-time implementation within budget.
  • Ensures engineering activities are feasible, and performance standards are met according to specifications.
  • Leads and support projects, technology development, and section planning.
  • Coordinates long term plant planning and estimates for the creation and presentation of reports to upper management as requested.
  • Responsible to collect, organize, and issue/present reports related to manufacturing sustainability plans and strategies for the department to upper management and SBR, as needed.
  • Interacts with other engineering departments, supporting and developing cooperation between departments.
  • Responsible for creating schedules and leading activities related to long-term vehicle development investigations at SIA include evaluations and vehicle tear down activities
  • Responsible for leading training of key members on select long term advanced vehicle and equipment development activities for department
  • Assesses cost effectiveness and feasibility of manufacturing processes.
  • Participates in continuous improvement by identifying new opportunities to improve processes, procedures, and increase efficiency.
  • Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
  • Leads business process audits to ensure that process indicators are being properly tracked and maintained.
  • Leads improvement plans to validate production processes to achieve department & plant targets for both new model and current production.
  • Organizes and leads cross-functional teams to recommend and countermeasure plant-wide issues.
  • Drives Kaizen activity, applies statistical and other improvement tools.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience within project management field
