EOI Space is looking for a Spacecraft Test Engineer to help drive the testing of EOI spacecraft and components. This person will work with the AI&T leadership to create efficient and repeatable test processes for the spacecraft and its components, and execute testing across the system, in alignment with EOI’s mission objectives.
What you will do:
The Spacecraft Test Engineer is responsible for test execution in a safe and repeatable way across spacecraft systems and components. This role will help define tooling and documentation standards for spacecraft and component testing to meet program milestones.
This role requires an individual with a strong technical background and a willingness to learn, as the responsibilities bridge across many engineering disciplines. Additionally, the person in this role should have strong interpersonal skills in coordinating with people, both internally and externally (e.g., fabrication vendors, test houses, etc.).
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute functional tests on spacecraft hardware
- Create custom software and hardware tools to enable automated testing, aid data collection, data processing, results documentation and summary
- Design custom GSE using tools such as SolidWorks and Altium
- Plan and conduct test readiness reviews
- Create test flows, procedures, and training material as needed
- Foster a culture of safety, rigor, and continuous improvement within the AI&T group
- Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards and internal quality requirements
- Work with IPT Leads, program management, and mission assurance to align test activities with overall mission objectives
- Serve as a voice in program reviews, risk assessments, and anomaly resolution
- Engage with third-party vendors/contractors. Verify that purchased equipment meets specs/requirements upon delivery from vendors
- Assist in the preparation and deployment of GSE/STE hardware to ensure the success and reliability of the spacecraft and its subsystems
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, related engineering discipline, or equivalent
- A minimum of 1 year of professional test engineering experience, focused on spacecraft/satellite applications
- Experience with developing custom testing automation scripts and data acquisition
- Experience programming in LabView from a blank canvas
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities (includes written communication as well as face-to-face interactions)
- Proven organizational skills and the ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and electrical first principles
- Demonstrated knowledge of ASME and aerospace engineering standards
- Familiarity with engineering best practices regarding aerospace design
- Experience with testing and operating electronics and electromechanical assemblies
- Experience with rapid prototyping and testing to verify proof-of-concept designs
- Experience with spacecraft RF communications is a bonus
- Travel up to <5%
Compensation:
The anticipated compensation for this position is $110,000 to $165,000 per year, depending on previous experience. Pay ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.
