Participates in the maintenance, sampling and monitoring of the water system and water related City owned facilities.  This is a part-time position with an annual weekly average maximum of 29 hours.

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE: Standard principles of biology, chemistry and mathematics; safety precautions relating to work around machinery and laboratory chemicals; of laboratory procedures and tests performed in monitoring treatment plants and distribution and collection systems and peripheral elements of system.

SKILLS: Demonstrated skill in the operation of equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job.

ABILITIES: Ability to operate a truck and trailer and launch a boat; make mathematical computations; work outdoors in varying weather conditions; follow verbal and written instructions; work around disagreeable odors; keep accurate and legible records; exercise some independent judgment in correcting problems; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees and the general public.

TRAINING:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:  No specific requirement or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive:

  • Perform monitoring and maintenance duties related to the City’s water storage reservoirs.
  • Collect water samples from the reservoirs and various points in the system; perform laboratory tests.
  • Read and record gauge and flow meter charts, change charts.  Collect monitoring well measurements at City operated reservoirs.
  • Operate a variety of equipment including a lawn tractor, sample collection boat, various hand tools, and laboratory equipment.
  • Perform related work as required and assigned.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
State of Colorado Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
