Participates in the maintenance, sampling and monitoring of the water system and water related City owned facilities. This is a part-time position with an annual weekly average maximum of 29 hours.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE: Standard principles of biology, chemistry and mathematics; safety precautions relating to work around machinery and laboratory chemicals; of laboratory procedures and tests performed in monitoring treatment plants and distribution and collection systems and peripheral elements of system.
SKILLS: Demonstrated skill in the operation of equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job.
ABILITIES: Ability to operate a truck and trailer and launch a boat; make mathematical computations; work outdoors in varying weather conditions; follow verbal and written instructions; work around disagreeable odors; keep accurate and legible records; exercise some independent judgment in correcting problems; establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees and the general public.
TRAINING:Â High School Diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:Â No specific requirement or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Â The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive:
- Perform monitoring and maintenance duties related to the City’s water storage reservoirs.
- Collect water samples from the reservoirs and various points in the system; perform laboratory tests.
- Read and record gauge and flow meter charts, change charts. Â Collect monitoring well measurements at City operated reservoirs.
- Operate a variety of equipment including a lawn tractor, sample collection boat, various hand tools, and laboratory equipment.
- Perform related work as required and assigned.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
State of Colorado Driver’s License with a safe driving record.Â
