Job DetailsJob Location: Weiler Forestry Facility - LaGrange, GA 30241Position Type: Full Time SUMMARY The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for supporting and coordinating the company's environmental, health, and safety programs to maintain a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace. This position partners closely with Human Resources and plant leadership to promote a proactive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, coordinate workers' compensation activities, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. The EHS Coordinator is expected to take initiative in identifying safety hazards, recommending corrective actions, and driving safety improvements throughout the facility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate and support all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Proactively identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and processes through routine plant inspections, observations, and employee engagement. Take initiative to recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions. Maintain a visible presence throughout the manufacturing facility by conducting regular safety walks and engaging employees, supervisors, contractors, and vendors regarding safe work practices. Investigate workplace injuries, illnesses, property damage, and near-miss incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective actions that reduce future risk. Partner with Human Resources to coordinate Workers' Compensation claims, including incident reporting, medical treatment coordination, return-to-work processes, restricted duty assignments, and claim documentation. Assist Human Resources with employees onboarding by conducting new hire safety orientation and ensuring required safety training is completed. Coordinate and facilitate ongoing safety training, refresher courses, regulatory training, and safety awareness initiatives for employees. Maintain OSHA logs, safety records, training documentation, incident reports, inspections, and other required compliance documentation. Monitor environmental compliance activities, including chemical management, hazardous waste handling, and regulatory reporting as applicable. Coordinate Safety Committee meetings, track action items, and support plant-wide safety initiatives. Partner with production, maintenance, engineering, and continuous improvement teams to identify ergonomic concerns and recommend solutions that improve employee safety and operational efficiency. Ensure emergency response equipment, PPE, safety supplies, and first aid resources are properly maintained and available. Assist with contractor safety requirements and visitor safety expectations. Stay current on applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and recommend program updates when necessary. Transport employees requiring non-emergency medical treatment to the designated occupational health clinic or emergency facility when needed. Support Human Resources with employee engagement initiatives, wellness activities, and other department projects as assigned. Promote accountability by encouraging employee involvement in identifying hazards and participating in continuous safety improvements. Perform other duties as assigned. Travel: Less than 5% travel expected. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing safety, environmental health and safety, manufacturing operations, or a related field. (Preferred) Experience with OSHA regulations, Workers' Compensation, and incident investigations is preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OSHA 30 Certification preferred (or ability to obtain after hire). First Aid/CPR certification preferred. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization. Ability to conduct training, facilitate meetings, prepare reports, and communicate technical safety information in a clear and professional manner. Ability to maintain confidentiality and build positive working relationships. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and data analysis. COMPUTER SKILLS Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint). Experience with HRIS systems, incident reporting software, and safety management systems is preferred. ADDITIONAL SKILLS Strong initiative and self-motivation with the ability to identify issues before they become incidents. Excellent observational and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Ability to influence others and promote a positive safety culture. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong investigation and root cause analysis skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Human Resources and operational leadership. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position regularly works throughout a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, noise, airborne particles, varying temperatures, and other industrial conditions. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated production areas.
