Job DetailsJob Location: 24012 CALLE DE LA PLATA STE 400 - LAGUNA HILLS, CA 92653Position Type: Per DiemEducation Level: Not SpecifiedSalary Range: $43.00 - $48.00 HourlyJob Category: Health CareThe Respiratory Therapist (RT) provides specialized respiratory care to hospice patients to promote comfort, relieve distressing respiratory symptoms, and support quality of life at end of life. The RT works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary hospice team to assess, implement, and evaluate respiratory interventions in accordance with hospice philosophy, physician orders, and regulatory requirements. * Assess patients for respiratory compromise, including dyspnea, hypoxia, secretions, and respiratory distress. * Develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans consistent with hospice goals of care. * Administer and manage oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, suctioning, and other respiratory modalities. * Provide ventilator management, non-invasive ventilation support, and assist with ventilator withdrawal when appropriate and ordered. * Monitor patient response to respiratory interventions and adjust care in collaboration with the hospice physician and nursing team. * Assist in symptom management related to respiratory conditions, including COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, ALS, cancer, and other terminal illnesses. * Educate patients, families, and caregivers on use and maintenance of respiratory equipment. * Provide instruction on breathing techniques, secretion management, and comfort-focused respiratory care. * Support families during respiratory symptom crises and end-of-life transitions. * Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to comprehensive care planning. * Communicate patient status, changes, and recommendations to physicians, nurses, and other team members. * Coordinate with durable medical equipment providers to ensure appropriate respiratory equipment delivery and function. * Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in accordance with hospice policy and regulatory requirements. * Ensure compliance with standards established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the California Department of Public Health. * Follow infection control, safety, and quality assurance protocols.  Qualifications* Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree). * Current, active Respiratory Therapist license issued by the Respiratory Care Board of California. * Credentialed as CRT or RRT through the National Board for Respiratory Care. * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. * Minimum of one (1) year of clinical respiratory therapy experience required. * Hospice, home health, palliative care, or critical care experience preferred. * Experience with oxygen therapy, ventilators, and end-of-life respiratory symptom management preferred.
