JOB SUMMARY:  Under general supervision, to fabricate or repair and perform related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs all aspects of work pertaining to welding and fabricating. Diagnoses jobs and repairs as required on site locations at heights of up to 3 stories, working on ladders and scaffolding. Follows up on assigned service orders, corrects problems or refers to superior noting disposition.
  • Drives a truck and maintains a truck inventory of materials and supplies.
  • Regular Attendance Required.
  • All duties performed on site for the Community.
  • Works effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listens to and objectively considers ideas and suggestions from others; keeps commitments; keeps others informed of work progress, timetables and issues; addresses problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions; addresses others by name, title or other respectful identifier; and respects the diversity of our workforce in actions, words and deeds.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintains job time and materials used and assists other crews in maintenance during peak workloads as assigned.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Welding machines, cutting saw, grinding tools, ladders.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to dust, fumes and normal outdoor elements.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school and experience in welding trade or equivalent combination of education and experience that produces the following:

  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job.
  • Knowledge of practices, methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the welding trade.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Ability to read and write work-related job instructions in English.
  • Ability to perform manual work requiring physical strength and stamina appropriate to the area of assignment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and residents.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a valid California driver's license.
  • Ability to pass respiratory pulmonary function test and annual medical examination.
  • Ability to pass qualitative and/or quantitative respirator fit test.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires standing for periods of up to 5 hours and frequent lifting and/or carrying of up to 10 lbs. Occasional lifting and/or carrying of up to 50 lbs. and frequent balancing, crawling, crouching, grasping, kneeling, reaching and stooping with occasional climbing, feeling, pulling and pushing. Daily exposure to hazardous equipment and machinery which produces high heat. Occasional working at heights of up to 40 feet.
