Purpose of Job
- The ER Supervisor is responsible for scheduling and coordinating the activities and training of the shift.
- The ER Supervisor is responsible to enable operational excellence through engagement with all plant production units and departments. The position is responsible for initial response to plant emergencies and to maintain emergency response equipment for response to plant emergencies.
- The ER Supervisor will work a rotating shift schedule and be expected to respond to emergencies during off hours as needed to support the site emergency response team.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the shift so that a minimum of three full time ERT are scheduled for shift coverage at all times.
- Manage the shift so that all required inspections and testing are completed and documented in a timely manner.
- Leading member of site Emergency Response Team and leads drills to include Fire, Hazmat, Rescue and Medical.
- Serve as the On-scene Incident Command during plant emergencies.
- Responds to off-hour emergencies as needed.
- Responds to transportation emergencies.
- Conducts required inspections and tests of fire and emergency apparatus (extinguishers, pumps, fire trucks, deluge systems, hose, SCBA, rescue equipment, etc.) to ensure equipment is compliant and reliable.
- Develops emergency plans for plant operating units/equipment.
- Develops and maintains Emergency Response Procedures.
- Participates in outside emergency response organizations, such as Mutual Aid.
- Provides emergency medical services for complex and contract employees.
- Coordinated Emergency Response Training and serves as instructor for the Emergency Response Team and other safety related topics as needed.
Formal Education
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Associate’s or higher degree in Occupational Safety or related field is desirable.
- National Registration as Basic EMT required; Paramedic preferred.
- NFPA Instructor 1
- Firefighter 1&2 or NFPA 1081 Interior & Exterior
Working Experience
- 3 years Minimum Process Industry Emergency Response Experience
- 5 years Minimum Emergency Response Experience
Required Personal and Professional Skills
- Sound understanding of applicable codes and standards (OSHA, NFPA)
- Experience with SAP, MS Office Suite, and SharePoint software preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Impeccable integrity and ability to protect confidential information.
