Position Purpose/Summary

The Precast Concrete Inspector is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders. This role is responsible for ensuring precast concrete components fabrication meets all applicable LADOTD specifications, approved shop drawings, and industry standards.

Location 

This position is based in Lake Charles, LA. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities 

  1. Ensure quality documentation and required records for the Project are accurate and up to date.
  2. Perform inspections of fabrication process and monitor operations.
  3. Inspection for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications of precast-prestressed concrete products
  4. Testing of materials; review of plans
  5. Keeping daily diaries on project operations, resolving daily constructability issues and troubleshooting problems to mitigate delays to project’s progress
  6. Monitoring contractor's daily operations
  7. Effectively communicating and coordinating work with contractor, coworkers and supervisors
  8. Testing concrete on-site
  9. Review fabrication details for constructability and installation compatibility.
  10. Review material certifications, fabrication quality control records, fabricator’s inspection and testing records, fabrication quality control records and repair records.
  11. Review quality documents prior to delivery.
  12. Assist in ensuring that quality requirements are implemented by subcontractors.
  13. Compile comprehensive reports detailing quality performance, highlighting trends, and suggesting corrective actions and lessons learned.
  14. Collaborate in the digitalization of quality records.
  15. Monitor, verify and generate daily reports on the progress and performance of contractor activities.
  16. Performing the off‐site quality inspections at the Owners/suppliers/manufacturer’s yard/shop as needed. 
  17. Reporting quality issues associated with the construction and track deficiencies/non‐conformances.
  18. Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  2. Ability to use appropriate computer programs (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite) which includes having proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes change.
  3. Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal.
  4. Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches.
  5. Ability to function effectively as a team player and collaborator.
  6. Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including overtime and work additional and/or different hours, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed, to best serve the business operations. 
  7. Ability to perform on-site inspections in outdoor areas.

Qualifications 

At a minimum, the Precast Concrete Inspector must have PCI Level III along with 3+ years of related quality experience. Experience working with LADOTD Design-Build projects and/or the construction industry is preferred. 


Knowledge and experience in the implementation of the ISO 9001 standard on Quality Management System is required. Experience in implementing quality management and quality control digital tools will be valued.
