Health Information Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Health Information Manager at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles oversees the daily operations of the Health Information Management Department while ensuring patient medical records are maintained accurately, securely, and in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility standards.

In this role, the Health Information Manager helps ensure medical records are complete, organized, confidential, and accessible to authorized staff to support quality patient care and continuity of services. Responsibilities include monitoring documentation compliance, assisting with audits and surveys, maintaining record retention systems, and supporting departmental processes in accordance with Joint Commission standards, federal and state regulations, and QAPI guidelines.

This position also serves as a resource for staff regarding medical record documentation and health information processes while collaborating with multiple departments throughout the facility. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, professional, and committed to protecting the integrity and confidentiality of patient health information.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR EXPIERENCE:

Education: High school diploma with additional training in Health Information Management department
functions (i.e. certified health information management technician or other such certification or
training).
License: State of Practice. If applicable
Experience: At least 1 year supervisory experience and 5 years as an HIM Manager or an equivent role.
Psychiatric HIM experience is preferred to adequately perform duties in this position
