About the Opportunity
Medicoil is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead Manufacturing, Production Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, and Shipping & Receiving. This senior leader will translate business strategy into operational results by developing people, strengthening processes, improving capacity and flow, and ensuring consistent delivery of safe, high-quality products for medical-industry customers. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, collaborative leader who communicates clearly, builds accountability, and uses data to drive measurable improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Manufacturing, Production Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, and Shipping & Receiving, establishing clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability.
- Develop and coach managers and team members through regular communication, performance feedback, succession planning, and targeted training.
- Translate company goals into operating plans, capacity strategies, staffing plans, budgets, and measurable departmental objectives.
- Improve the flow of materials, products, and information to increase throughput, improve on-time delivery, reduce lead times, and lower operating costs.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement using lean principles, structured problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and data-based decision-making.
- Maintain a safe and healthy workplace by reinforcing established policies, identifying risks, and ensuring timely corrective action.
- Ensure operations support the quality management system and applicable customer, regulatory, and ISO 13485 requirements.
- Partner with Sales, Finance, Quality, Engineering, and other leaders to align demand, capacity, priorities, capital needs, and customer commitments.
- Establish and review key performance indicators for safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, capacity, and employee development; address performance gaps with clear action plans.
- Lead operational readiness for new products, process changes, equipment installations, and growth initiatives.
- Oversee daily workflow and resource allocation while balancing immediate customer needs with long-term operational priorities.
- Recruit, select, onboard, and retain strong talent; conduct timely performance evaluations and address employee relations matters in accordance with company policy.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated success leading multiple functions in a complex manufacturing environment.
- Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, organizational development, change leadership, and accountability.
- Working knowledge of regulated quality systems; experience with ISO 13485 is strongly preferred.
- Strong operational planning, project management, problem-solving, and financial acumen.
- Ability to analyze operational and financial data, identify trends, and convert insights into priorities and action.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using ERP or manufacturing systems to manage performance and decision-making.
- Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, growing organization while balancing strategic and day-to-day priorities.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience managing people and teamsÂ
 Physical Requirements:Â
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
