What you’ll be doing...

  • Manage the compliance and valuation for assigned state and local property tax returns, including keeping well documented and accurate analysis and support.

  • Manage tax payments to ensure that payments are made timely and that internal policies and procedures are followed.

  • Ensure internal controls are followed for all compliance functions.

  • Responsible for handling inquiries and audits related to assigned state and local filings.

  • Provide property tax advice and guidance to Verizon management and personnel through subject matter expertise in interpretation of existing laws, regulations, court cases, tax returns, and assessments.

  • Foster and maintain open communication and working relationships with team, tax department customers and state and local taxing authorities.

  • Handle high volumes of data utilizing Property Tax software, Excel, Alteryx, generative AI solutions and other pertinent tools.

 

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience in accounting, tax, or finance related role.

  • Excel skills.

 

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting.

  • A CPA.

  • Four plus years of multistate property tax or other related experience.

  • Alteryx or other generative AI skills.

  • Experience with PTMS.

  • Ability to build relationships and work cross functionally.

  • Analytical and planning skills.

  • Success working both hands-on and, in a team-based environment.

  • Highly motivated, technical & detailed oriented.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.
