SUMMARY
Delivers outstanding customer service while preparing, serving, and selling high-quality baked goods, coffee, and espresso beverages. Works collaboratively with team members and the department manager to support daily operations and help ensure department and store goals, as communicated by the Store Director, are consistently met or exceeded.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide outstanding customer service by giving customers prompt, attentive assistance and following through on all questions and requests.

  • Understand and communicate the unique qualities of our products and how they differ from those found in conventional stores.

  • Prepare and serve coffee and espresso beverages according to company standards.

  • Ensure all food and beverage products meet company standards for quality, quantity, freshness, and presentation.

  • Stock bakery cases with products received from local bakeries and ensure attractive product displays.

  • Maintain accurate retail pricing and signage for all products.

  • Properly package, wrap, label, date, cover, and rotate products for retail sale.

  • Offer product samples to customers and promote department items.

  • Maintain adequate department supplies and ensure displays, cases, floors, shelves, and work areas remain clean and organized.

  • Work collaboratively with team members to keep the sales floor and aisles well-stocked, clear, and properly maintained.

  • Maintain a safe and sanitary department by following food safety and workplace safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions to management.

  • Receive and process incoming products in coordination with the store receiver.

  • Document product transfers, waste, and spoilage using appropriate forms.

  • Support cross-merchandising efforts with other departments to promote products and enhance the customer experience.

  • Follow store policies and procedures for cash handling and register operation. (when applicable)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 
Successful experience working in a retail or hospitality environment with progressive increased responsibility.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations. Ability to effectively present information to and respond to questions from other managers, store managers, vendors & customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Strong basic math skills including the ability to add, multiply, divide, subtract and calculate percentages
Knowledge of Microsoft Office application including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages and discounts.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems.
