Job DetailsJob Location: FL - Lake Wales, FL 33853Salary Range: $14.00 - $18.41 HourlyGENERAL PURPOSE   Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in the custodian care and maintenance of City buildings. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the close supervision of the Support Service Commander or designee. SUPERVISION EXERCISED None generally. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Clean light fixtures, and shades (including Emergency lights). Vacuum ALL carpeted surfaces, spot clean (when needed), sweep, and mop/steam clean ALL tile or laminate flooring.  Empty ALL waste receptacles (inside & outside) of building(s) and reline cans with liners including paper shredders. Clean and sanitize restrooms, baby-changing station(s), stall partitions, and replenish supplies; clean drinking fountains, mirrors, ALL countertop(s), and any spillage on floors. Clean glass cases, glass doors/walls, trim (baseboard and around doors), door handles, handrails and wipe down hardwood door(s). Clean rain gutters and sweep sidewalks. Pick up litter around buildings and grounds. Inspect and maintain assigned custodial equipment and small tools for proper operating conditions. Open and close, lock and unlock facilities as needed. Keep records of work completed. Maintain current skills and knowledge in the proper and safe techniques of building maintenance. Report/notify any safety issues as soon as possible. PERIPHERAL DUTIES Move and set up furniture, pictures, etc. as needed and assigned. Other duties as required. QualificationsDESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance; Working knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs; Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions; Skilled in the operation of tools and equipment. (C)       Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule; Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time; Ability to communicate orally and in writing; Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely; Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; Ability to establish effective working relationships. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Valid Florida Drivers License. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Floor buffers, steam cleaners, carpet cleaners, washers, vacuum, mops, brooms, dusting and other equipment necessary to perform duties.  PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
