About the Position

Groome Industrial Services Company is seeking a Superintendent to join our team.

Key Responsibilities 

Project Management

  • Perform project start-up, and mobilization with crews.
  • Supervise multiple jobs simultaneously through site visits, phone communication, and electronic reporting.
  • Monitor production, manpower, scheduling, equipment, and project progress.
  • Identify and document change orders, out-of-scope work, delays, and extra work opportunities.
  • Coordinate manpower and equipment needs with the Scheduling Manager.
  • Assist with project closeout, punch lists, and final inspections.

Safety & Quality

  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct safety inspections, document violations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all required EHS documentation and calibrated safety equipment are maintained.
  • Perform QA/QC inspections to verify compliance with project specifications and AMPP/SSPC standards.
  • Maintain QP-1 documentation, inspection reports, and quality records.

Communication & Documentation

  • Complete daily Superintendent reports documenting production, safety, quality, manpower, equipment, and project progress.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation using company reporting software (TruQC).
  • Communicate daily with management regarding project status, scheduling, and customer concerns.
  • Participate in customer meetings, pre-construction meetings, and project planning.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Occasionally assist estimating with field take-offs and pre-bid site visits.
  • Coordinate subcontractors as required.
  • Track surplus materials and equipment utilization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What does it take to work for Groome Industrial Service Group?  

  • 7+ years of industrial sandblasting and protective coatings experience.
  • 3+ years in a superintendent role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial coatings, surface preparation, OSHA regulations, and AMPP standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, tablets, and electronic reporting software.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel extensively.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel extensively.
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and industrial structures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated work areas, and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear required PPE.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Travel Requirements

  • This is a full-time traveling position requiring frequent overnight travel throughout the United States.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Company-issued phone, tablet and laptop are provided. The Superintendent must remain accessible during business hours and promptly respond to calls, texts, and emails.
