Job DetailsJob Location: Lake Morton LLC - LAKELAND, FL 33801Salary Range: $17.00 - $21.00The Cook at Lake Morton Senior Living is responsible for preparing high‑quality, nutritious, and appealing meals for residents in accordance with dietary guidelines, community standards, and resident preferences. This role plays a central part in creating a positive dining experience and fostering a warm, home‑like environment. The Cook directly supports the community’s mission of providing caring and compassionate service to all residents by preparing meals with attention to detail, respect for resident dignity, and a commitment to safety, sanitation, and hospitality. Every plate served contributes to residents’ well‑being, comfort, and quality of life. Key Responsibilities Prepare meals according to menus, recipes, dietary standards, and resident preferences. Ensure all food is cooked and served at appropriate temperatures, with quality presentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen that meets state and community regulations. Properly store, label, and rotate food items to ensure freshness and safety. Assist with menu preparation and provide input on recipe improvements or substitutions. Collaborate with dietary staff to meet special dietary needs (low-sodium, diabetic, texture-modified, etc.). Communicate and interact respectfully with residents, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. Follow all food handling and safety guidelines and maintain required documentation. Support the mission of caring, compassionate service by treating each resident meal as an opportunity to enhance their day. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior experience in cooking for a healthcare, senior living, hospitality, restaurant, or institutional setting strongly preferred. Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and safe food handling practices (ServSafe certification a plus). Ability to follow standardized recipes and adjust to resident dietary needs. Strong time-management skills and ability to coordinate multiple dishes simultaneously. Dependability, teamwork, and a positive, service-oriented attitude. Ability to interact kindly and respectfully with residents, understanding their unique needs. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25–50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Demonstrated commitment to providing compassionate, resident-centered service through food preparation and presentation.
