The Mechanical Technician serves in the role of production mechanic and machinist. Performs advanced level mechanical fabrication, maintenance diagnoses, and repairs on designated production equipment and systems in an industrial environment to support efficient production operations as needed.
Serve in a role as part of a team to achieve and maintain on-time production performance, product quality, and accuracy standards as well as operational safety, including OSHA and EPA compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced mechanical fabrication, maintenance, and repairs on designated equipment which may include, but are not limited to CTP Imagers, processors, benders; press printing units, reels, dampening & inking systems; inserting equipment, stackers, strappers, labelers, applicators, bindery equipment, conveyors, motors, pumps, dryers, industrial equipment, and other ancillary equipment.
- Participate in the installation of new equipment or updates to existing equipment as needed.
- Assist management and contract service providers as needed.
Safety
- Always work safely and consistently utilize the required safety equipment to promote top-of-mind safety awareness.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Complete required annual OSHA safety training programs:Lockout/Tag-out, Hazardous Communications, Personal Protective Equipment, Hearing Conservation, Blood Borne Pathogens, Forklift.
- Ensure all machine safety guards are installed, functioning properly, and in use.
- Immediately report any potential safety hazards, operational concerns, and all accidents/injuries and near misses to production management.
Communication
- Provide timely and accurate information to management.
- Immediately report equipment or product issues to production management.
- Communicate scheduling needs to supervisors and production management.
