| JOB SUMMARY | ||||||
| Â The Sonographer performs a variety of ultrasound procedures in an outpatient setting while maintaining a high | ||||||
| level of customer service and quality patient care. The administration of the Sonographer includes performing routine | ||||||
| breast ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist and demonstrating compassion | ||||||
| to ensure overall patient satisfaction. | ||||||
| JOB RESPONSIBILITIES | ||||||
| 1. Performs routine breast ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist. Patients | ||||||
| are positioned and scanned correctly assuring that the physician prescription and scan are the same. | ||||||
| 2. Properly inputs all required patient information into the system including protocol, patient history in full | ||||||
| sentences, performing providers, and any additional information to the radiologist regarding the procedure. | ||||||
| 3. Obtains complete and detailed history to assist the radiologist with diagnosis from each patient. Performs exams | ||||||
| in an accurate and timely manner. | ||||||
| 4. Properly identifies patients and demonstrates compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality. Explains | ||||||
| the exam to each patient to ensure patient safety and cooperation. | ||||||
| 5. Assists the radiologist during breast biopsies while following OSHA and universal precautions. Reviews consent | ||||||
| forms with patients and answers any questions regarding the procedure, and ensures that the radiologist and patient | ||||||
| sign the consent forms. Properly labels the specimen containers and fills out any necessary paperwork accurately. | ||||||
| 6. Maintains exam rooms by stocking exam rooms with necessary supplies. Maintains equipment and reports any | ||||||
| equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or appropriate service provider. | ||||||
| 7. Properly windows and levels images for film printing and burns CDs as necessary. | ||||||
| 8. Promotes teamwork by assisting other staff as needed. Performs other duties as required. | ||||||
| 9. Customer Service. | ||||||
| WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS | ||||||
| Â 2 or more years in the Sonography field is preferred. | ||||||
| Â High School Diploma or GED. | ||||||
| Â Completion of a course in Ultrasound; Current RDMS and Breast certifications are required. | ||||||
| SKILLS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS | ||||||
|  Skills in properly positioning patients and obtaining diagnostic images, identifying equipment problems, | ||||||
| establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and public. | ||||||
|  This job requires prolonged sitting or standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching; Must be able to see with or | ||||||
| without corrective eyewear, must be able to hear clearly, with or without assistance. This position may require lifting | ||||||
| 50 plus pounds. |
